Welcome, minions, to our (hopefully) monthly column called Worthy Bands. A Worthy Band is a band that has shared the stage with your LORDS, and did not instantly cower behind their amps, disintegrate, or simultaneously die of heart attacks. Showing this bravery gains them favor in the eyes of their LORDS, and we think you should know more about them! So, without further ado, let us introduce this month’s Worthy Band:
Forcefield is a thrash/heavy metal band from Menasha, WI. They write and play concept songs about space, the future, and the Anunnaki gods returning to rule humanity. We’ve played quite a few battles with them, and they’ve never failed to impress.
While still a younger band (but who isn’t, compared to the age of the LORDS), they’ve gotten a chance to share the stage with many other awesome acts including Helstar, Metal Church, and The Protomen. In fact, one of my favorite shows ever was when the LORDS and Forcefield joined forces for our battle with The Protomen. And let’s not forget the time Sean Delorey of Sean Delorey’s Forcefield (featuring Sean Delorey of Forcefield) joined The Blast, Asian Metal, and Killius Maximus for a 4-way guitar duel:
(Skip to 1:04:15 to see the duel)By the time this post comes out, Forcefield will no doubt have released their new album, which we’d encourage you all to check out. But since we haven’t heard it yet, we can only recommend songs off of their first album, Cosmic Integration.
Our favorite songs are “Shields Up: Red Alert”, and “Magnetar”. In fact, Forcefield and the LORDS have come up with some alternative lyrics for the chorus about a fictional anti-gravity bar top:
MAGNET BAR
MAGNET BAR
HOLDS ON TO YOUR DRINK
MAGNET BAR
MAGNET BAR
STRONGER THAN YOU THINK!
