Worthy Bands: Zephaniah

Fang VonWrathensteinWorthy Bands

Welcome, minions, to our (hopefully) monthly column called Worthy Bands. A Worthy Band is a band that has shared the stage with your LORDS, and did not instantly cower behind their amps, disintegrate, or simultaneously die of heart attacks. Showing this bravery gains them favor in the eyes of their LORDS, and we think you should know more about them! So, without further ado, let us introduce this month’s Worthy Band:

Zephaniah is a progressive speed metal band from Fort Wayne, IN, and has done battle with the LORDS quite a few times. Those who have witnessed “The Zeph” (and survived) tell tales of faster-than-light playing, a thunderous rhythm section, and the craziest guitar acrobatics ever. Seriously – if you’ve never seen “The Triangle of Despair”, where three guitarists play each others instruments, you’re missing a key point in your life.

Luckily, your LORDS have been known to shoot a live video or two while on tour (skip to 0:36 to see the craziness):

We first played with Zephaniah at the Warriors of Metal fest III in Ohio. We were immediately impressed by their Dragonforce-like agility on their guitars, and how they commanded the stage. We tried to set up a battle or two with them, but alas, they broke up shortly after. Luckily, they reformed a few years back, and are on the battle trail yet again!

Zephaniah is working on a new album, but at the moment, the only CD available is “Stories from the Book of Heavy Metal” which you can listen to here.

Luckily, there’s a number of live footage available to rock out to. Here’s a clip taken at Warriors of Metal Fest 2014 by our loyal minion Lance:
